SLAITO Communique.
Multiple Fundamental Rights Petitions were filed in the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, including,
by Tourism Industry Associations, regarding the new eVisa system implemented on 17th April
2024, without prior warning. These Petitions, were taken up on Friday 2nd August 2024, by the
Supreme Court, and an interim order was issued, suspending with immediate effect, the Sri
Lanka eVisa portal run by IVS-GBS and VFS Global.
Important Summary of Actions–
https://www.srilankaevisa.lk has been suspended on the 2nd of August 2024 at 17:00 HRS Sri Lanka Time.
All eVisa’s applications made after this time will receive a refund, application number and details need to be shared to - travel.partner@srilankaevisa.lk
Currently there is no platform for issuing of eVisa online for tourists coming to Sri Lanka.
All tourists with no Visa will have to apply for Visa on Arrival until the foremer Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system is reestablished.
We anticipate that the said ETA system will be up and running within the course of next week.
